“The digital revolution of the last decade has unleashed creativity and talent of people in an unprecedented way, unleashing unlimited creative opportunites.
But does democratized culture mean better art, film, music and literature or is true talent instead flooded and drowned in the vast digital ocean of mass culture? Is it cultural democracy or mediocrity?
This is the question addressed by PressPausePlay, a documentary film containing interviews with some of the world’s most influential creators of the digital era.”
Pete Eckert is blind. But through his photography, he proves that he is a visual person who just can’t see.
A truly inspiring portrait of this artist presented by Artists Wanted.
Music Painting — A breathtaking timelapse video with great calligraphy and illustrations by Alice Ninni, based on the idea and music “Lacrime di Giulietta” from Matteo Negrin.
Produced by Lab.
Undercity is the brainchild of Steve, an urban historian and photographer who appears in this film produced by Andrew Wonder, practising what he calls Guerilla History & Urban Exploration in the hidden layers of New York city, be it underground, crawling through century-old sewer systems, exploring abandoned subway stations or above ground catching a breath-taking view of the city from the top of bridge towers.
All accompanied by the great DJ Shadow’s turntables.
The above is a short 3 minute teaser of the excellent 28 minute official film I highly recommend watching. Enjoy!
The first Relentless Energy Short Stories film, is by the Irish renowned photographer and bodyboarder Mickey Smith, and Allan Wilson from the Astray Collective as Director of Photography, and explores Smith’s world as a true waterman — both as an athlete and artist.
As Smith puts it: “Something that offers insight into what it takes to grind out a living as a water-based photographer in the surfing industry: a short experimental glimpse at a life lived in the shadow of obsessive photographic pursuits.”
This Short Story is called “The Dark Side of The Lens”.
BIG BANG BIG BOOM is the newest work by the Italian street artist blu. You may recognise the style of stop-motion video created by huge street graffiti that made him mainstream with Muto, his Buenos Aires piece, but now he makes even more use of external objects and incredible settings.
In his own words “an unscientific point of view on the beginning and evolution of life … and how it could probably end.”
This makes me miss London so much… Beautiful work by Alex Silver: “You’ve Got to Love London.”
