BIG BANG BIG BOOM is the newest work by the Italian street artist blu. You may recognise the style of stop-motion video created by huge street graffiti that made him mainstream with Muto, his Buenos Aires piece, but now he makes even more use of external objects and incredible settings.
In his own words “an unscientific point of view on the beginning and evolution of life … and how it could probably end.”
I have accompanied Slinkachu’s work for a while now, and am always pleasantly surprised by his new entries.
From his website: “Slinkachu’s ‘Little People Project’ started in 2006. It involves the remodelling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which are then placed and left on the street. It is both a street art installation project and a photography project. The street-based side of his work plays with the notion of surprise and aiming to encourage city-dwellers to be more aware of their surroundings. The scenes he sets up, more evident through the photography, and the titles he gives these scenes aim to reflect the loneliness and melancholy of living in a big city, almost being lost and overwhelmed. But underneath this, there is always some humour. He wants people to be able to empathise with the tiny people in his works.”
