I had found this first image (“Half-Seeing”) in charcoal and ink from the set a while ago and have recently set it as my desktop background. Realising how nice it was, I decided to look the artist up — Nathan Abels is an American artist based in Denver whose artwork reminds me a lot of the kind of photography I like the most.

“The Connoisseur” — A beautiful illustration (even inventing a plausible Jackson Pollock!) from Norman Rockwell on the cover of a 1962 Saturday Evening Post — is a commentary on the impact and acceptance of the recent modern art movements such as the Abstract expressionism pictured.
